An Introduction to the Dissenting Opinion

The essence of free speech is the exchange of ideas and the ability to discuss differing views and opposing positions. It has been clear in the recent months, however, that such discussion is in danger of vanishing completely. We are at risk of losing one of our primary Freedoms, not due to the oppression of Government, or international conspiracy, but for fear of unpopularity or the negative labeling by our fellows.

Enter the Dissenting Opinion. My intent is to present a rational pragmatist view (with a decided conservative slant) to current events (or whatever shiny bauble attracts my magpie attentions). Friends and neighbors we are in need of common sense, and i hope to provide it.

Decency, intelligence, creativity and courage are not outmoded virtues, but they take work. Let us work together.
